So I spoke to a computer repair shop who says that it's probably the power supply or the battery, both of which are very fixable. I spoke to Dell who says it's probably the motherboard and all you have to do is buy a new one *insert eye-roll here*

Honestly, I am feeling entirely fed-up with dealing with this and want to just buy a new computer and be done with it. But I'll see if we can't fix this one easily. In any event, I'm useless to work at school today, so I'm going to go to Costco, buy some milk and orange juice and CDs hopefully. Buy some vodka at the LCBO. Go home and make myself a very large screwdriver. Then try to work again.

Why does this have to happen when I'm trying to write two papers in as many days?

Ha! I read "make myself a very large screwdriver" and thought you meant a metal one, for taking apart your computer to put a new power supply in or something, and then I couldn't figure out for the life of me why a) it had to be large as they're typically very small screws holding computers together and b) why and how you would make one, as they're typically sold ready-made.

Then I read, and re-read, and gave up, and then suddenly understood.

Anyway, I found myself amusing and thought you might too.

Er... and the moral of the story is "good luck"?

Don't worry, Chico. It's already been my plan for a while that my next computer would be a mac. It just seems that my next computer will be coming far sooner than I thought it would. I'm already about ready just to throw in the towel on this one, even if it CAN be fixed for a reasonable price. Two major non-user-error issues is more than any computer should have. I currently have my eyes on a nice little MacBook, and a proper large iMac when I settle down to live somewhere semi-permanently.
